About me
Thanks to the low number of existing living species (~100) and the small number of rare species in the family Strombidae, this is generally considered an ‘easy’ family to collect. Also, some species are widely distributed (s.lentiginosus, l.lambis) and easy to capture due to the fact that most of them are shallow water shells. Howewer, as soon as the collector tries to go deeper into this topic a myriad of new information and connections appear, making enjoyable spending free time on this topic.
Please note that I’m a Strombidae collector from many years, but this is not my profession (I’m not a dealer or academic researcher) and the purpose of this web site is simply to organize my thoughts and create an archive for my personal collection. In addition I only collect specimens from living Strombidae species, i.e. I’m not considering extinct genera or species (fossils). Maybe you can find wrong information or simply you’re willing to exchange ideas; that case please do not hesitate to contact me.
